Out of my Mind by Sharon Draper
Eleven year old Melody has a photographic memory. Whatever she sees, hears, smells or touches she remembers every detail of it. She is very bright, perhaps the brightest girl in her school, but nobody knows that. She can't walk or talk and she's stuck in a wheel chair. Most people think she could not learn, but up until now she has never been able to express her feelings thoughts and emotions. Until she comes upon a contraption that will aglow her to talk for the first time ever. Now she has a chance to talk but will anybody listen? With the help of her family, friends and a glimmer of hope, she can win her battle with cerebral palsy and let her thoughts come out of her mind.
