Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

This novel has won many awards and it is clear why.  Anderson's words portrayed a depressed high school girl so perfectly.  The dialogue was very realistic and so was the sad truth about a High School's understanding of rape.  Melinda, the main character, asked herself if it was her fault, which is the terrible way society makes women feel. My only criticism was the high school setting began to bore me.  However, the book was well written.
