Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

This book is centered around a teenager's struggle as he leaves his private school, temporarily moves into New York City, dabbles in alcohol and tobacco, all without his parent's consent.  I think that the laid back style of writing and the man vs self conflict throughout the novel is highly entertaining.  Salinger perfectly depicts a struggling teen who, like many other teens is rebelling against his parents, peers and society.
