Tips and Tricks to Ace the ACT

Open to all High School Students
If you are planning to take the ACT this fall, this is the course for you! Two secondary teachers with decades of experience, Corlyn Nedwick (Verbal) and Pat Corey (Math & Science) will prepare you for this exam by reinforcing specific skills tested in the exam such as grammar, algebra, reading comprehension and interpretation of scientific information presented in graphs, charts, tables and research summaries. Important test taking strategies will be presented. Opportunities to practice questions will be given
In-person registration will be taken in YA Central. There is a $30 fee, cash or check made payable to Harborfields Public Library. Space is limited.

Review: Speak tells the story of a young freshman girl who goes to an older party with her friends and is separated from them. Soon she she's on the ground and finds herself being raped by a senior, Andy Evans. When she calls the cops, everyone thinks she's the loser who ruined the party. Now she has lost all her friends. Speak is a rare classic that keeps you on your toes. Anderson's suspenseful writing keeps you wanting more.

5-Hour Pre-Licensing Class
Saturday, September 24th from 9:30 AM – 2:00 pm
Open to High School Students and Adults
The 5-hour pre-licensing class is required by the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles for all applicants who would like to schedule a road test.
The fee for this class is $40 (cash only, and exact change is appreciated). The class will be taught by an instructor from a local driving school and is open to anyone ages 16 and up. You must bring your NY State Learner’s Permit to class. In-person registration is required at the Reference Desk.

In this 90-minute session, parents and high school students will learn how to maximize their admissions, scholarship and financial aid potential. Students will learn how to determine their “best fit” colleges and learn the ways to differentiate themselves from others with similar grades, test scores, interests and aspirations. Please call Youth Services to register.
