April is National Poetry Month


National Poetry Month is a celebration of poetry, first established by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness of poetry throughout the United States. This celebration emphasizes the importance of poetry in American Culture and draws attention to individual works of poetry and poets, books, journals, and more. During the month of April, please post comments, messages, or your own poem. I look forward to hearing from you!

One of my favorite poems is by Robert Frost and it inspires me to be a leader, take chances and believe in yourself. There were many times in my life when I have had to make difficult choices and sometimes they have worked, other times I haven't been so fortunate. Believe in yourself and learn from mistakes and you can always overcome. With poetry, there are many interpretations and that is part of the beauty of poetry. I hope there is a poem out there that makes you feel good and inspires you. Please share! For now, here it is...

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,


And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I love that poem to Mr. Cooper.

I just read something I though id never like and it was a poetry book by tupac called The rose that grew from concrete. and it was really cool and he wrote these things whe he was a teen

Yes, that poetry book is very inspiring and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I know many people who have read all his poetry in that book and I have heard tons of positive feedback. It was also discussed once at a conference I was at.
