Authors Unlimited

Authors Unlimited celebrates reading by connecting teens and authors. Meet authors such as Sarah Beth Durst, Lauren Oliver, Christopher Grant, Robert Lipsyte and many more. This all-day event will be held at St. Joseph's College on Saturday, April 28, 2012.

Call Youth Services and speak to Mrs. Meglio for more information about how you can get tickets and apply to be a volunteer.

At this month's program, artist Kevin Kempster will show you how to create your own comic book using your own characters and storyline.  At the end of the program, your finished project will be put into an actual, professionally printed comic book.

The Hunger Games @ the Elwood Cinema

Saturday, March 24th, from 9:45 am - 12 noon

Teens in 6th - 12th grades are invited to join us for a private screening of the much anticipated The Hunger Games (rated PG-13) at the Elwood Cinema.  Everyone who registers will receive a ticket, a small popcorn, and a drink.  Parental permission forms are required and available at the Youth Services desk.  The forms must be returned before Thursday, March 22nd.  Everyone must provide their own transportation to and from the movie theater.  Please arrive promptly at 9:45 am.

The Art of Pi (Pie)

Open to students in grades 6 - 12

In celebration of National Pi Day, join instructor Jo-Ann Tiranno and make a cross between an English open tart and a classic American apple pie.  English tea will be served along with a heavy dose of geometry.  Math can be fun when its practical applications are used in the kitchen.

High School Students Game Plan for Life

Thursdays, March 8th, 15th & 22nd
from 5:30 - 6:30 pm
Open to students in grades 9 - 12

Regina Peritti from the Town of Huntington Youth Bureau's Project Excel will conduct a three-week workshop that will help you make important discoveries about yourself and guide you in the process of answering vital questions such as: What career do I want to pursue?  Which colleges are right for me?  How do I apply to colleges?

During Teen Tech Week, Harborfields students in grades 6-12 may write a review of a book they have read to earn a raffle towards a cool prize!
