Summer Reading Club Bowling Party


Friday, August 6th from 3:30-5:30 at AMF Commack Vet Lanes

All students who were active participants in the 2010 Young Adult Summer Reading Club are invited to celebrate their successful summer of reporting at our end-of-the-summer reading club bowling party on Friday, August 6th at AMF Commack Vet Lanes. All students please have a parent or guardian drop you off at the bowling alley at 3:30 for a fun afternoon of pizza, hotdogs, goody-bags, guitar hero, prizes and of course, bowling! Pick up is at 5:30pm at the bowling alley, and please don’t forget to wear socks. All costs are provided by the library. Call the Young Adult Desk to register.

Cookie Swap and Contest

Sign-up for this tasty and fun cookie swap and bring in two dozen home-baked cookies. Mr. Cooper and our panel of cookie tasters will award prizes to the yummiest, most creative and best eye-catching cookies. While the judging takes place, we will play “Cookie Bingo.” Every¬one will leave with a plate of assorted cookies and prizes. PLEASE DO NOT PUT ANY TYPE OF NUTS IN YOUR COOKIES. Surfboard Clocks

Surf’s up! View a variety of surfboard designs as inspiration for creating your own surfboard shaped clock. Using various craft materials you will be designing beach and tropical themed surfboards complete with a working clock which can be placed on a table or hung on wall. Flying and Gliding

Join Mr. Cooper and create several different types of paper airplanes. You will learn about the various types of paper airplanes and how to make them, and then we will test them out and let ‘em fly! Get Ready To Baby-Sit


Saturday July 17th from 10 AM - 1:00 PM

Babysitting or working as a mother’s helper can be a great way to earn extra money, as well as gain valuable experience with young children. This workshop, taught by professionals from Cornell Cooperative Extension, will teach the various skills necessary for every good babysitter. Xbox 360 Tournaments


July 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th from 7:00 - 8:30 PM

Bring your friends and stop in Young Adult Central to compete in tournaments playing various Xbox 360 games like Madden Football, Burnout Paradise (race car driving), NBA 2K9 (basketball) and Street Fighter IV (kickbox¬ing and wrestling) and more.
