Teen Literary Committee Meeting







Wednesday, January 27th
Students in Grades 6 to 8 meet from 7 - 8 PM
Students in Grades 9 to 12 meet from 8 - 9 PM

All students in grades 6 to 12 are invited to join the Teen Literary Committee with Mr. Cooper. TLC meets monthly for fun discussions of young adult books, programs, movies, summer reading clubs and more. This month we will be discussing and brainstorming ideas, themes and prizes for the 2010 Summer Reading Club. New members are always welcome so bring a friend and join the Teen Literary Committee! Registration is not required.

Teens Connect




Monday, February 1st from 7 - 8:30 PM


Teens Connect is a program where teens earn community service hours for their participation. Please join us this month to make Valentine’s Day crafts and surprise treats that will be donated to children and seniors within our community. Please call the Reference Desk to register.

Get Ready to Babysit Workshop



Saturday, January 16th from 10am-1pm


Baby-sitting or working as a mother’s helper can be a great way to earn extra money, as well as gain valuable experience with young children. This workshop will teach the necessary skills that every good baby-sitter should have. Students currently in 6th to 9th grades may register. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of this course, which is being taught by professionals from Cornell Cooperative Extension. Please call the Reference Desk to register.

Chocolate Cornucopia




Monday, January 25th from 7 - 8:15 PM


Celebrate the new year with a bounty of chocolate goodies. In this workshop you will make a chocolate cornucopia and fill it with your own hand-dipped candies. This delicious chocolate creation is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth! Please call the Reference Desk to register.

Saturday Book Swap




Saturday, January 9th from 9AM-12PM


Do you have any young adult books that you would like to swap, or exchange for a different book? If so, then stop by YA Central on January 9th between 9 AM and 12 noon and you can swap one book with us and choose a young adult book from our variety of giveaways. Please make sure any book you bring to swap is in good condition. No registration is required and all teens who stop by will be entered into a raffle for a surprise giveaway.

Winter Surprise



January 2nd-31st


Stop by Young Adult Central during the month of January and take a guess on the number of winter candies in the jar on Mr. Cooper's desk. The winners will receive a bag of treats and a surprise gift card. Kick off the new year in Young Adult Central!

Age of Empires 3 Tournament



Friday, January 22nd from 7 - 8:30 PM


Join us in Young Adult Central for a night of Age of Empires III. This epic real-time strategy game spans 10,000 years. Players are challenged to build tribes into great civilizations and attempt to accumulate wealth, dominate the world and conquer the enemy. Do you think you have what it takes to rule the world?
